Hey,

I just got a 3000 series HP and was quite shocked that it worked flawlessly without installing anything - OS X just picked it right up off the network. So, my recommendation goes to HP.

I just bought a Dell 3100cn refurb for $259 w/free shipping and it has been great so far. I have it connected to my wireless router and both Mac and Windows found it right off with no fuss at all. It is a 4-pass color laser, so the color is somewhat slow at 4ppm, but the b&w zips by at 22ppm (real test results, not specs). And since I mostly use b&w it is great for me. You can also get a duplexer and a second paper tray for it, but I don't have them. The consumables are also very cheap (about 1cent/page b&w, 5cents/page color) compared to those you mentioned (about 1/3 the cost).
