Before all of you start saying "Get a Windows laptop or PC", just wait and read this:
I want to get an M4 MacBook Pro when it comes out (Haven't figured out which chip yet, advice about that would be helpful too.), but I wanted to see if M3 could do it well (doesn't mean I'll get it). Here are my use cases:
-Gaming on the side (NMS (Can you hack Switch and transfer a save somehow, let me know?), Minecraft, Fortnite, and Nintendo emulators, maybe more.)
-Unreal Engine to code my own games for the future
-General use for school and home
-Works better with my iPhone

There may be other use cases in the future, but I wanted to know. Any other advice would be helpful as well, as I don't want to get a PC or Windows, I don't need that much power.
:)

Fortnite for Mac via Epic launcher is an older version of the game. You can only play online with others using Macs and no store access.

For your use cases an M3 will do. MacOS is great for school and especially coding. Basically everything but gaming. On the Intel Macs one could at least install Windows with BootCamp and play Fortnite that way. This does not work anymore with the Apple Silicon Processors. So the only option for MacOS users to play Fortnite (and some other games) is to use an online gaming service like gforce now or xbox live. So I personally opted for going for a MacBook Pro for coding, photography and other (creative) work, while purchasing a console (Playstation 5) for gaming.

I'm okay with that. I would mostly be playing NMS, which, if I remember correctly, does support cross play. (Does anyone know how to transfer a Switch file?)

True, but I have heard reviews about the fans being noisy, which would be annoying for me when I'm enjoying content. Plus, Epic Games and Apple are apparently close to settling their dispute, so fingers crossed. But thank you all for the advice! Keep it going!
