I've become interested in my MBP4,1 again after my (relatively new) MBP9,2 battery rapidly started failing, and it's brought up some questions that I keep forgetting to ask. Mainly, what modern accessories/features from Apple can work on our older Macs? The first one I was curious about was AirPods. I don't have them, but I am interested in buying them. AFAIK they are just normal Bluetooth earbuds but Apple has minimum requirements for them, and the oldest supported Macs are from 2012. Do they work on the MBP 4,1 or is the Bluetooth card too old? What other recent Apple accessories can work with these machines? Another thing I noticed was that Universal Control can work on our machines, all it takes is macOS Monterey 12.3 (use OpenCore Legacy Patcher) and a Bluetooth upgrade to Bluetooth 4.0. This made me wonder, what other fairly new macOS features might work on our machines that you wouldn't normally think could work? Hopefully we can uncover some pretty neat stuff here!

I'd expect keyboards, mice, trackpads and headphones will work on most bluetooth enabled Macs. Although some gestures may not be supported. If the OS came out before the trackpad.

Is it possible to upgrade to Bluetooth 4.0.?
