What name would you prefer?

I am a little curious as to what people think of the iPad name or some of the other rumored names for the device.

My personal opinion is that its fitting, its to the point and describes what it does in a nutshell. I see it as an advanced electronic notepad, the notepad of the digital age. However people will no doubt dispute this.

Would you rather the Slate, iSlate, iTab, Apple Tablet and so on or do you just love the iPad name? In my opinion no matter what name Apple chose people would have still found and opinion to winge and whine.

I still say iPod DX. Iphad is a ridiculous name. Just be real. It's a large iPod Touch and needs to be celebrated as such. DX repsents 'larger' so iPod DX is most fitting.

They won't say because ANY name that is placed out there someone will make fun of and pick apart. They don't have the balls to put themselves out for rejection. iPad, iSlate, iGlass, iThing.. etc.. whatever it is it's going to sound funny for a while.

I don't care what the name is, it could have been anything and the reason for me to buy or not comes down to function and cost, not in some silly name.

As someone stated before about the Wii, it was bashed all day long, but also talked about just like the iPad's name. Which turned out to be some very good marketing on Ninteno's part, and now it will work for Apple as well. Wii has sold a an amazing amount of consoles if you look at it's hardware vs it's competition I'm amazed anyone would buy such an underpowered console in a world of "bigger, faster, better" where people want bleeding edge tech. Why? Because it offer a user experience that NO others have yet matched. It in terms of gameplay is a revolutionary way to interact with games.

Sounds familiar huh? I heard more people laugh at it's "bad graphics" and chuckle at it's "under powered" hardware, yet it has topped the sales charts over and over. Bottom line people ENJOYED USING IT, it's not the end all in console gaming, but a wide age range ENJOY the user experience. That sells product and it will sell iPads.

I heavily considered voting for iBook, although then I'd have to change my username to iBookA4user and that'd be too much hassle. So I went with iPad.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the name iSlate would have been better. As a closet Trekkie, the name iPad makes me think of the little handheld computers from TNG. This device is much bigger. I just think the name iSlate would have fit better.

I agree 100% i couldn't really care less about the name of the device, i would be just as happy with iSlate, iBook or just Slate. I am just curious to see with all this name bashing what people actually want. It has to be called something.

As with a lot of new things including Apple things the name does sound odd for a while, look at the MacBook Air or MobileMe cases. People were a bit disappointed with both of them, but now its a non issue. As will be the case with the iPad. Although im still curious

Maybe Apple were reluctant to use the iBook name as it would have created confusion amongst some average to low end Apple users with the old iBooks. The name does seem fitting though if it were to be used primarily as a eBook reader, they do have the iBook store correct? It will depend on how apple market it, i dont see it however being taken down that road based on the keynote.

As for the Slate or iSlate i would be perfectly happy for the device to be called that.
