What next for the iPad Pro in 2018

I have an iPad Pro 9.7 but wont be upgrading to the new iPad Pro 10.5

I am looking forward to what comes next...

Redesigned chassis (maybe a more continuous design where there is not a hard metal/glass boundary)

Almost/or completely edge to edge OLED display

Redesigned smart keyboard with backlit keys

Redesigned pencil with no lightning port (maybe inductive charging and use the tip as an erasor or second pointing option)

What are your thoughts?

Man the 120Hz OLED display will beat the crap out of whatever TrueTone Apple calls now.
But I think OLED for iPad will come after 2-3 years.

After seeing the 10.5 today, I still want:

• Even slimmer bezels (even if only the side bezels get slimmer again)
• Slightly thinner body
• A little lighter
• Higher DPI

Why won't there be a complete bezel free, edge to edge display to the iPad in the not vision ?

- Apple giving us a better than 12W charger (hopefully)
- perhaps force-touch

My thoughts... for what they're worth: (my theories, not predictions)

• The 2nd gen 12.9 Pro will be the last... to be replaced by an 11.7 Pro.
• A 7.9 Pro.
• Smaller Apple Pencil to go with the 7.9 Pro.
• An ultrathin "gutted" iPad that acts as a screen companion for an iPhone.

Why won't there be a complete bezel free, edge to edge display to the iPad in the not vision ?

Mostly because people still need to hold the device and you can’t grip it on both sides with one hand like you can with a phone.

I’m sure Apple will surprise us with something we haven’t thought of, but some of the things we could see in the next iPad Pro are:

• Reduced bezel size for the 12.9 (to match the appearance of the 10.5)
• Lighter weight (slightly, every bit helps with this kind of device)
• Even better display tech (incredible now, but who knows what’s next)
• Better chargers (Not sure if wireless charging for iPad will be ready yet)
• Bluetooth 5
• Apple Pencil with side buttons added
• Of course, either the A11X or A12X processor
• IMHO, we won’t see a new upgrade until at least Fall 2018, perhaps Spring 2019

Who thinks the 3.5 inch jack will go?? I hope it doesnt as its one thing that makes me avoid upgrading my iphone 6s to a 7

I see Apple retaining the 3.5 mm Jack on the iPad/MacBook line in the future. Mainly because these devices Are primarily stationary when are using them. (When you consider movies and other forms of media.)

Aside from that, my future predictions with the iPad would be OLED, 3D Touch, eliminated hardware buttons (Perhaps replaced by some form if touch capacative controls), Iris scanning/facial recognition recognition capabilities.

I think the Apple Pencil 2 will also debut along side the new iPads with longer duration uses, smaller, and expanded capabilities.

Battery can last for a week without charging.
Get rid of 3.5 Audio port

In fairness, this is more important for the 12.9 with its larger battery capacity and higher power consumption than on the 10.5. Slow charging is better for maintaining battery health.

My wishlist for the Pro 10.5

- 2732*2048, 326 PPI (to match Pro 12.9 resolution and iPad mini pixel density)
- USB 3.0 transfer speeds via Lightning cable

The current Pro 10.5 is already a very nice upgrade. For my usage though, 326 PPI would've tipped the scales making it an instant buy.
