Apple creates a midi keyboard available in 61 keys that directly interfaces with garageband. What makes the keyboard unique is that it is made in the apple style and offers instant connectivity with garageband. Aside from that, you can also play it stand alone with its own built in speakers. Steve hails it as the musicians "masterpiece".

They can't sell it to everyone, so I don't see it happening.

It already happens. A lot of cheap keyboards have built in speakers and mini synths along with USB outputs.

Nothing new, my £50 USB midi keyboard talks to garageband no problems...

There were a TON of iPod speaker setups before the hifi... What makes the hifi unique?

Nothing. I don't think there's anything particularly special about it. I have seen better for the same price. I have better, it's called a proper hifi that can be bought for the same money...

Wait, aren't we talking about a Keyboard apple already sells? I was at the apple store last friday, and noticed there was an iMac, running garageband, with an cool keyboard (midi) connected to it. Never looked at it, I was too busy with the Macbook.

Apple does sell keyboards for Garageband, and they also have them on display at the Apple Stores, but they're not Apple-made Keyboards, just third-party products.
