What Online Website Chat Software do you use on your website?

I have done the research and these are the best solutions that have been given to me and I have found so far. What do you use for your website online chat service. If you use any of the ones mentioned, feel free to talk about your experiences. They are in no Particular order.


1. PHP Live http://www.phplivesupport.com/?google As far as I can tell they seem like a good solution. Other World Computing uses them. They have a one time fee of 89 bucks, it is PHP based


2. http://www.activalive.com/ This service is hosted. Seem like a good solution for businesses. There is a monthly fee based on how many seats you take.


3. http://www.jivesoftware.com/products/openfire/ - I want a chat window client but I am not sure this will do that yet without adding somethings to it.


What do you use? If you use any of these tell me more about them. If you have another great online chat software tell me about it.
 
kfordham281, I like it, it says yes to me. I will do some more reading on the site. It looks really interesting. What else you got?
 
Update. I talked to the people from OpenFire and it looks like they are coming out with and Open Source Version of Fast Path which comes with OpenFire Business Version. They told me around April 7th.

Caveat: This is not a freeware/shareware implementation and this is not in response to any previous replies listing other products, this is a commercial product so it's unfair to compare products from two different channels.

If you're serious at about top quality chat, this is commercial solution I've implemented that has a fantastic GUI in Flash and a Java based engine on the server which runs under any *nix for up to hundreds of users at once depending on the license you buy:

(click on the CHAT link in the gray nav bar at the top, but also on that page is the Who's in Chat? stuff at the top which is why I am giving you this link, to check that out too)

I purchased the license for 250 users, integrated "Who's in Chat?" it into my forum (or you could do the same for any web page) and on the back end wrote a custom PHP/MySQL script that permits me to schedule chat sessions and their duration in advance, open/close the room, present a dialog to prompt the user to enter chat, and select which room to use for scheduled chats (which are added to that calendar on the top left).

Chat has all the usual features - custom settings for skin selection, emoticons (flash and smiley), avatar, private chat, admin, moderator, celebrity chat module (queued and approved Q&A), multiple rooms, transcript recording, sound and optional webcam support. My site is celebrity oriented, please note, I opted not to do the video stream.

The major components are as follows:

* 123 Flashchat consists of Adobe Flash client - loads automatically, user front end with sound support, tons of features the admin can customize
* Java daemon runs on my Linux server locally, handles up to 250 users, automatic startup and simple config via editing two XML files via CLI - extremely efficient, low memory usage, fast, maintains its own database
* PHP script to integrate "who's in chat now?" per room into my forum - simple GPL download from support site intended to be used with phpBB which i also run

$700.00 investment and it works across all major browsers, you can bypass most firewall issues by running via port 80 (requires static IP) so people don't need any unique plugin software or special setup to access.

PHP Live! Support, it's not bad, we've had it for a good 2+ years. They have a little app for it but it's only for windows. It's a lot cheaper then it was when we got it.

Nice application. A little pricy but nice :)
