Hi! I have an early 2015 13" MacBook Air with 8GB Memory. I still have OS X El Capitan and it's working fine, but I keep getting constant notifications to update to Monterey (which I can't seem to turn off).

If you are a fellow MacBook Air 2015er-- is there any OS you recommend if I were to upgrade? Is going straight for Monterey the best option (in terms of compatibility and speed), or does the hardware better support another OS?

I barely use any 3rd party apps which I heard can be a problem with upgrading, and I use Chrome over Safari (which I know has better security in Monterey)- I'm mostly considering an upgrade because of the annoyance of the constant notifications and understanding it could be beneficial for software updates in the future.

What wisdom have you acquired? What are you suggestions?

Thank you!

Rachel

See sig. I have same as you but I've upgraded my SSD... I stayed on Catalina for the longest time... I just upgraded from that directly to Monterey about when 12.3 or 4 I think came out.. It seems to run well on this. I only do web browsing/TV/Movie watching email, Excel, and my 11000+ Photos library on it. I strictly use Safari. No issues. Chrome is known to eat battery. I swore I was gonna stick on Catalina till it dies, but I finally upgraded it. Oh yeah, and I have Virtual Box loaded on it and I do run Linux VM's on it as well. I believe Monterey is the last version gonna be supported on this..
