Other What phone for the wife? Replace a broken iPhone 11

Hi,
My wife is now several months without a phone....her iPhone 11 broke - baby playing and falling from high surfaces.....she has reverted to a very very old SE - The old one - So it's time to buy her a new phone.

We love iPhones....I have the 11 too....but they are expensive. We can't buy them through contract etc because we live in Asia and can't buy them through contract.....so we have to pay it all upfront.

Soooo.....Which iPhone should we get her? We want it to be a good solid phone and LAST at least a few good years......which one should we get and what size? As in GB?

We've looked at the 12/13........but not sure what will have more life left in it with the 14 now out?

If you are on a tight budget and only require 64 GB, then iPhone 12.
If you need 128 GB or more, then iPhone 13 since the price of the 128 GB models is close. This will also be supported longer. The 13 also has longer battery life.
There is also the latest SE which is considerably cheaper, but it is the older design and has poor battery life.

You should also look into the cost of repair for your broken iPhone 11, both from Apple and a third party.

The storage you get should be based on your storage needs. Look in your settings to see how much storage you’re using now and make a guess as to how much it will grow over the time you intend to keep the phone. Keep in mind 4K video can get large.

if pictures are important to you I’d suggest One of the Pro models.

Samsung z flip. Every woman I know who has one really likes the phone. But I don’t know your wife so I really can’t advise on what you should get her, but ask her best friend if you don’t know her well enough.

Evaluate whether it's likely to get broken again by tiny hands and choose accordingly.
I remember ten years ago when iPhones were still everywhere in my country I was sat in a hospital waiting-room and I saw one young mother letting her 12-18 m/o baby chew on a white iPhone 4S like teething aid. That was crazy from so many different perspectives I don't even know where to start.

Also consider the weight of the pro models. My friend is getting rid of her pro 13 because she never got used to the weight. I personally would never want a heavy phone either
