Proactive Siri sounds like a great idea. But I would have really liked to see Siri Scripts.

Go into Siri Scripts settings, add script.
1. Record voice command - "Siri Arm Security", "Siri Disarm Security", "Siri Mute TV", "Siri ..."
you tell it the voice command that it stores on device that you will use.

2. Record script - hit start and it takes you to Home Screen. Open the necessary app, tap on the screen for functions. Double tap home button to end script recording.

3. Save.

Now you'd have a Siri command that arms you alarm when you leave the house or disarms it or mutes your tv or other items that you can control via apps but that you do repeatedly and it could automate the process. Siri can launch an app. But then you have to do the work. Siri could be leveraged to process tasks you do on your phone all the time. With scripts recorded, Siri could check on device against the recorded functions prior to searching the web. Siri on the Apple Watch could do the same thing for you as it uses the phone to complete its Siri functionality.

I'd like it to just be a little smarter about options.
  1. Like when I'm at work turn off all sounds.
  2. When I'm in the car open this app that I always use when I connect to the cars BT.
  3. When I'm home and you're charging or sitting on a table and haven't moved in a while, crank up the volume so I hear the ring tone.
Android did this well either by default or through add-ons like taskr (among others). It would be nice to see these "smart" features make the rounds.

If you treat Siri as a cloud based phone Automator, these are reasonable. Luckily, i think the same as you suppose. I also think Siri is an Automator. Yes, and Automator, based on cloud.
However, the automation level is still really really low.
And here is an interesting question: what future tech should look like? Easy to use, while can do heavy lifting in the backend? Or capable doing many things, with various interaction between machine and human?

Both. Something like the movie "Her", sans the crappy ending.

Maybe, a fusion between two of them? Easy to use front end, with features needed for advanced users, and strong backend, capable of finishing heavy lifting? Too perfect? ;)

Whatever it will be, Siri is neither one of them.

Well, not now, but maybe in 30-40 years. Who knows.

I've been wanting the ability to tell Siri to "order me a pizza", and then she uses the [insert pizza place] app to order my usual pizza and have it delivered and it uses Apple Pay and Touch ID to pay. Naturally, she would also automatically remember to use the 50% off promo code that never seems to expire. Is that so much to ask?

This could be expected after three decades.
