What processor to upgrade and imac 2CD

I have an imac with a 2 core duo 32bit, I want to grade it to a 64bit new processor, which processor can I use (conroe?) I have seen this one forsale

No. Intel iMacs use Socket M CPUs. They are numbered like T7200... and such.

I may be mistaken but the EFI firmware on your machine is probably 32 bit and probably won't allow the chip to run in 64 bit mode.
