To look so crisp and sharp in portrait and landscape, the included wallpapers have to at least be above the screen's 1024x768 resolution. Does anybody know?
They're 1024x768. A great deal of effort was probably put into downsizing them from a higher resolution to make them look as good as possible on an iPad.

If you download "the guardian eyewitness" then snap a screenshot, they a absolutly georgous. Only problem is you have to rotate them using a cropping program(cropulate) because the photo app can't do it, which I think is pathetic.
They don't need to be "above" 1024x1024 for best full resolution but be exactly 1024x1024. If above (or below) 1024x1024 they would need to be downscaled (or upscaled).
