what resolution can the MacBook go up to???

Hi,

What is the highest resolution the MacBook can go up to?

I've just bought an LG L194WT 19", wide screen, DVI, LCD monitor. After setting it up it seems the maximum resolution I get is 1440 x 900.

Is it possible for me to get a higher resolution however than this (which is what I would like), or is there a limitation in either the (a) MacBook graphics card or (b) the LG 19" display?

that monitor has a resolution of 1440 by 900, so you won't be able to get anything higher than that. if you do want to go higher, i suggest you return the monitor and get something with more pixels. i use a 20" dell with a 1680 by 1050 resolution, and i love the extra screen real estate. you can even go bigger, as the macbook can support up to 1920 by 1200.

no, the macbook can only drive 1920 by 1200. the macbook pro can do 2560 by 1600.

With the VGA adapter, it will do 2048x1536. My brother has a Macbook, and he says it works. My 12" PowerBook coukd do it with the Mini-DVI to VGA adapter, so I don't see why the MacBook can't. It's not like the Intel GMA950 is incapable of it.
