I will be on an airplane for 15 hrs in a couple weeks, besides the power adapter what can I do to maximize my macbook pros battery life? What programs maybe running that can be shut down? What about widgets, can they be turned off? I will primarily just be watching movies. Any help in appreicated.
Thanks

Tips

Processor performance to low, turn off airport and bluetooth and dim screen.

That's about it.

Don't use your optical drive, don't do any heavy processing that spins the Hard Drive. Anything with moving parts drastically shortens battery life. If you want to watch movies, rip them to your hard drive and watch from there since the optical drive is a battery killer.

I am not too positive about this when it comes to USB power drain as compared to a hard drive.... but if you have movies, maybe put them on thumbdrives, it is possible that they would consume less power than the hard drive... but definitely don't use the optical drive, and use the hard drive sparingly. No matter how you cut it, unless you plug that thing in, no way will it last 15 hours.

Nope

I can't imagine something plugged in would use less power, as it's draining power from the battery, which still needs to power everything else.

The only way that computer is lasting 15 hours is with about three battery packs.
