What shape Wacom tablet should I buy?

Hello,

I'm thinking of getting myself a Wacom tablet this Christmas. I was thinking of getting an A5 as I've used one before and I don't reqire anything bigger. The problem is I want to use it with both a widescreen mac laptop AND a regular 4:3 screen on my G5.

Wacom tablets now come in both standard and widescreen dimensions. So which should I get? I assume that I will lose out on some of the tablet real estate on whichever system is the wrong dimensions. But is one a better choice than the other?

Anyways if you like the a5 size get the a5 wide, it will be more in keeping with the widescreen display (the newer system and future direction of screens), you will however lose some of the sides when working on the 4:3 screen. If you go the other way (assuming not setting to an area) you would lose the height which would mean a smaller area to work on which bearing in mind that all new screens are most likely widescreen these days seems like a poor option.

Both are the same size in 4:3. It doesnt matter which one you get, both can match the proportions of the monitor, it just depends on how big you want it to be in widescreen mode and how big your workspace is since tablets are much larger than their active areas.

Like the others said, it doesn't really matter. I happily use a 4:3 A4 wacom tablet with my iMac & Eizo widescreen setup. A tablet is something you have to get used to anyway, prepare yourself for practice, practice and practice.

Careful asking for a sticky (or suggesting a search, which is deemed good forum eticat I might add) might cause the post to be edited as its not on topic, even though it was advising on a alternative solution to posting about the same stuff again - sorry Blue Velvet but I felt it was worth posting about too as these graphics tablet style questions are becoming quite a common (usually with a similar question) to be asked now
