A while back, my iPhone 3G went through water damage and... was destroyed.
I'm not eligable for a upgrade until may, but my mom is. Will they let her go in, buy the iPhone (3G refurb for $49) and put on it on account (which already has the iphone data plan) or will she have to pay $30/month from now on?

Or could my dad give me his iPhone 3G (hes on a whole separate AT&T account), get a new one, i pop my sim in his and be fine. Or will it go through activation issues and will i have to ultrasn0w it, in which case is it even worth it?

what should i do?

1) she will have to pay the $30/month because its a 3G

2) he can the iPhone and u can just put ur sim in it and not hafta jailbreak

so either option works

but i mean she isn't ganna keep it. so can she just pay it for one month and then cancel it?

she could, but that would cost like $200. and then you wouldn't have any data on the phone

ok my line (line 2) already has a 3G data plan, im already paying $30/month for mine

my moms line (line 1) has NO data (she has a razr)

can my mom (line 1) not just use her upgrade for the $45 iphone 3G and transfer it to me (line 2) already with the data plan without changing hers?

because she wouldnt be to keen on paying $60/month especially when hers (line 1) wouldn't be using any data

Yes, you can cancel the data plan on your mom's line. Without a penalty.

Yes, you can do the same with your dad.

Either way works.
