what size hardrive?

I was wondering what size HD to get.
- How big are most apps? (i.e. Stoplight, iAlertU, Quicksliver, etc..)
- How big would a 1 minute video from iMovie be?
- How big would a Garageband file take up?
- Lastly, how much space should i put away for Bootcamp? (i.e. operating system, updates, etc...)

If you are getting the MacBook Pro go for the largest drive option.

the max size apple offers online is a 160 gb 5400 rpm hard drive. but as iwoot suggested, get the smallest drive possible and upgrade yourself. alternatively, you could just get an external.

no... i meant, is their no limit like could i but a terrabyte drive and put it in (even though i doubt their is one) or is their a limit like nothing over 250 GB will work

oh, i see. the biggest i've seen so far is a 250 gb 5400 rpm. macsales offers it for $280.

It has to be a laptop hard drive. You can't just stick a desktop hard drive in there. Make sure that the laptop hard drive is SATA when you get it.

I'm a bigger fan of external hardrives. Since the mb comes with 120gigs anyways, I think it would be better to spend the money and get an external drive to hold more stuff. You could get one for backup and one for regular storage for the same price as getting a larger notebook hardrive.
Just my 2 cents.

eh im not a fan of external hardrives because im gonna move around my house alot while using it, can i use the standard 80 GB HD it comes with as an external to back things up?

that's a desktop internal. you need a 2.5" sata laptop drive.
