I plan on using WinXP just for running a few games and most of them (for now) are kids games. I am curious as to what size BC partition you are all using for Windows. Is it too small or too big or what?

What size are you using?

Mine is set at about 15GB (formatted it as NTFS for the best stability in Windows XP). Although I also have another partition (on an external hard drive) formatted as FAT32, which I use as a 'swap partition', since both Windows XP and Mac OS X can read it write to it.

It all depends on the size of your HDD and what you want to do. Games take loads of space. I used roughly 25% of my HDD space for the partition. It's 53Gb and my HDD is a 250Gb (232Gb actual)

41GB of 120GB (111GB actual). Need the space for Windows games. Even now I need to upgrade my hard drive because the games are taking up too much space.

Too bad its such a pain (compared to the MB) to upgrade the HD on a MBP.

Cheers,

I made mine 25 gigs...figuring that windows by itself will take up 5 gigs and that I would want 5 gigs at least free for windows...so that cuts it down to about 15 gigs for files and whatnot...i currently have 16 gigs free...and it probably won't decrease by much anytime soon

Can I start off on FAT32 and then switch to NTFS at a later time without having to re-install everything??

Tell me about it, i spent 5 mins upgrading my friends MacBook hard drive to 250GB and my other friends MBP took 1.5 hours.

I just gave Windows 2 harddrives of its own. So 250GB for XP and another 250 for Vista. I will probably remove XP when Leopard arrives.

My BC partition is 20GB out of 160GB. I know that I will run out of space, so I bought Macdrive, so that I can use the Mac partition as additional space. This way, my Windows OS can effectively use up to the size of the entire hard disk.

Make it larger than you anticipate needing because you'll have to remake the partition to increase its size. Here's mine on my MBP:

I have 100 GB set aside for Windows on my Boot Camp installation. I have Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 Ultimate as well as some photo editors, some games, and so on.

I think it's just about right.

After-all, I used to use a PC with Windows XP and the same applications. It had a 40 GB drive, and I was always having to delete something to make room for something else.

So, I would definitely go well above 40 if you have the space available.

What is the minimum partition size I can use to run Windows XP Professional, and have it run well? I have a MBP 2.2 w/ 160 GB drive. I only have about 50 GB remaining and don't want to use up a lot of space for Windows. I only have 1 or 2 small programs I even need windows for. No games or anything

Thanks for any info
