What sound card/system is used in Imac 17/24"

I'm just wondering what kind of sound system is used in the latest imac computers, is it onboard or a sound card.

Is it suitable for skype etc.

It's onboard as provided by the Intel chipset. It will work fine for all normal applications including Skype.
