Core 2 Extreme X9000 2.8 GHz will be the flagship processor for the iMacs under Penryn.
If there is a graphical upgrade I don't expect much beyond the Mobility HD 3650.Cheers. I was hoping for a processor greater than 3Ghz, but I am definitely getting a new iMac on Tuesday if:
1. New iMacs are in fact released on Tuesday.
2. They support a better graphics card in the top-of-the-range model.
The baseline model will be a 2.4 core 2 duo, 2gb RAM, not sure on the graphics card. The top model will be roughly the same with a bigger hard drive, and better graphics card, and hopefully cheaper.
I'd be shocked if we saw 3.06Ghz, because the Mac Pro is still at 2.8Ghz, and Apple likes to keep things neat(I know you can up the Mac Pro past 3.06)
Maybe the Mac Pro will see a small boost!
Now that certainly wouldn't stop them. The iMac was at 2,8 ghz along a 2,6 ghz standard Mac Pro for 4 months
. Apart from that, a 8x (or 4x) 2,8 ghz machine will still be faster for the tasks that matter than a 2x3 ghz one.
Ha, I can't keep up with Apple's updates anymore!![]()
Yes, but that wasn't my point
