Just curious what other people are leaning rewards in the way of storage options in the upcoming iPad Pro.
Currently, I’m rocking 256gb but it’s not filled up yet. Thinking about 512 so I can have more local files but I’ve made no decision yet.

128GB, thats double my 64GB 11” Pro and with trade in I’m paying $600 for a 12.9” iPad Pro. That’s all I need.

I'm apparently at 27GB free on my 512GB iPad. Whoops. I normally like to keep 20% free.

Definitely getting 1TB. I think that's probably sufficient to always have my favorite MCU movies at hand along with all my other stuff and still have some headroom. :)

I have 2018 12.9 with 1 TB. I will get a 1 TB - but

disadvantages.....
mine is 40% full, you will need larger iCloud space. I have the 2TB plan. Since iTunes is gone you can't backup your iPad to your Mac... or at least I have not figured out how to do it....

advantages - more RAM. and I could put everything and more on my iPad....

disadvantage - I can't imagine how long it will take to get all of the above on to my new 1tb iPP

iCloud Storage: Depends on what type of content it is. Apps themselves don't need to be backed up. Certain app data such as iTunes/Amazon/Netflix/Disney+ video downloads, Kindle/comiXology downloads, etc. aren't backed up to iCloud/iTunes either.

Local Backups to Mac: You just need Finder now.

Finder is how it’s done now. When you connect your iPad/iPhone to your Mac, it shows up on the left side of the Finder window.

Open the music app if you have it and in the right hand side it says “Sync settings”. Click that and it will show you the familiar interface fir backing up.

Since the TV app is horrible for managing on-device media, I use iTunes on Big Sur via Retroactive.

Anticipating a new iPadOS to take full advantage of the M1, I’m going with 256 this time

Ive got a 512gb 11” IPP with ~165gb free. Probably going with the 1TB, but thats a hell of a jump in price. Files sizes aren’t getting smaller And it’s not like you can expand storage on the device. Sure you can save to cloud or an external drive but the idea behind a tablet imo is to carry less crap.

I thought I had seen that before, but couldn't remember how I got to it.

yeah would have been cool if they only incremented 100 bucks going from 512to1TB like they did with the lower options. Instea, it’s a 400 jump.
That $400 includes 8gb of RAM. But, if you don't need that, you should be able to just pay $200 for the additional 512gb.

I didn’t vote because I’m not getting a 2021 ipp, but if I was I’d get 2TB. For certain devices, I want to keep as much of my data on it as possible (and lossless), so I always max out storage.

I thought of getting the 1TB due to the extra RAM, but considering the insane cost, and that I still have 52GB left on my 256GB 2018 11-inch, I may still go with 256GB this time. 512GB is good but it’s at an embarrassing point that it’s expensive but doesn’t have the extra RAM.

It really should start at 256gb. For a pro machine.

Jumps after that are really hard to swallow price wise.
