The Jobsmeister LIED to me! He said that all new Macs come with iLife '08 but I only get iLife '06. The strange thing, though, is that my MacBook Pro came with a free copy of Aperture I guess. So, by my morals, it's okay for me to download a "pirate" copy of iLife '08 since Jobs said I could have it! ;)

Has anybody had this happen to them?

But it doesn't come with all MBP's. Or does it? It didn't came with mine..

My MBP (bought new from an Apple retail store 8/12) came with the Aperture trial (that I immediately uninstalled) and iLife '06. I politely complained to Apple and supposedly they're sending out an iLife '08 upgrade disc since my machine should have come with it but didn't.

That's interesting, seeing as my machine didn't came with one, albeit some time has passed since then .

To the OP: definately ask politely, seems to work judging by jvencius experience.

Aw, yeah ... it's a trial.

Sucks, guess I'll just have to DELETE it. What happened to the ad that says Macs don't come with all that trial software? So far I have:

Aperture Trial
Office 2004 Trial
iWork '06 Trial

... :D I still love my new Mac.

my gf got a brand new stock macbook from the apple store at westfarms mall in CT two days ago. ilife 06 was preinstalled but there was a retail copy of ilife 08 in the box of restore disks.

Most Macs don't come with Aperture trial.

And relative to most PCs, those apps:

1) ...are useful apps people would probably otherwise buy.
2) ...stay out of the way: they sit in the Applications folder until you decide to try them out. By contrast, the crapware on a lot of PCs has desktop icons, or loads itself, or other annoying things.

my mbp came with the aperture trial as well

and they should give you a free copy of ilife08 if it didnt come with it...

and 3) if you don't want any of them, then just drag to trash and empty it. No crap left behind.

Hah..

Off to wasteland this thread goes! I grabbed my restore discs to install Xcode and X11, sure enough, here's a package with iLife '08 in it. :D

Too little too late, though. I already downloaded it. :p
