1) You are running Windows from a connection to a server over the internet, not actually ON the iPad.
2) I run Cerner, a Windows-based hospital information management via Citrix and Firefox on my MacPro. Of course when I want to run Widows 7 natively I just boot drive 3.

Citrix doesn't run an OS on the device it's on, it's a remote control product. So you're runnign Windows 7 on a desktop somewhere and remoted connecting to that desktop and just seeing the video and controlling the remote system from the iPad.

If Apple was smart, they'd have a Apple Remote Desktop client for the iPad ready by the time it's shipping.

First, jeeeeeeeeeeez why don't people do a search before starting a thread that has already appeared at least twice in the past week.

There are already several Apps and threads regarding Jaadu VNC and other app store apps for the iPhone that will be redone to better take advantage of the iPad screen real estate that do this very thing for the Mac, except that Apple won't have to write it, support it, sell it or as is the case with a lot of the Apple app store apps - give it away for free.

Yeah, I read it. And yeah I'm familiar with hokey vnc apps. This is a step up from just another lan client.

But hey, you guys are so cool, you know it all already.

This is the entire reason I am buying an iPad.

ITC has a great RDP app for the iPhone, one of the few(only?) ones to work with W2K8/R2.

I wish Apple had a protocol that was anywhere near as snappy as RDP. VNC leaves a lot to be desired on the speed front.

+1 Another reason why I'm getting an iPad also.

uh, you can do this in the iphone now, with the logmein ignition app

Of course, there are RDP type programs you can get but I would use it on an iPad than an iPhone. Instead of saying one of the reasons why, I should of said it's an added bonus for me.

Uh, log me in is a service, which requires a subscription.

It is not RDP and has nothing to do with RDP and leaves a lot to be desired versus RDP.

Business customers use RDP. There is a huge difference between a VDI experience and Log Me In or any other remote viewing software.

I do it now, as I said, with ITC's RDP app, for the iPhone but I do it in emergencies because its a PITA to see and use, the iPad will make it extremely useful for SAAS and support applications.

So citrix will be helping get a fully functional OS running on the iPad. This could be AWESOME. ...too bad it's not OS X.

A little embarrassing.

Still, how long before OS X finds its way on there?

You do realize that the iPad is not "running" windows 7 but rather remoting into another computer that is running it. Any tasks being executed in win7 are done on the other computer and not on the ipad. There is no embarrassment going on.
