What time does iOS 12 get released tomorrow?

Should we aspect it to be pushed to the public around the same time as the keynote last Monday?

Many of us Europeans are about half day ahead, and often people wake up thinking it’s ready and then gets upset because nothing happens until around 10-11pm. It’s probably th biggest downfall of being ahead of America.

Look at it this way, launch day for the new phones and watches is still the 21st, and Europe is always playing with theirs before deliveries ever start here in the states.

You could always install a beta profile and get it right now. iOS 12 GM (same version that will be released to the public on Monday) has been available to beta testers since Wednesday.

Most Apple software updates come at around 19:00 CEST. Considering that Apple servers might be hammered (it was already quite tricky to download the GM), I would wait until Tuesday in Europe. If you could wait until now, you should be able to manage an extra day. Besides, there are no truly groundbreaking new features in iOS 12 compared to iOS 11, treat it more like a “service pack” from Windows days.

When it happens it usually updates like a dream and I carry on, not particularly noticing much of a difference from the old OS.

I don’t mess around with betas, but as soon as it goes public, I always download on day one. Millions of people update right away. Only a handful have problems. That’s what the months of beta testing are for. It’s extremely unlikely that your phone will be bricked or that you’ll lose content, especially if you simply perform a backup first.
And the servers are never so busy that I couldn’t download and install smoothly within an hour of launch.

A few things to be aware:

1. If you're doing an over-air update over WiFi, the size of the update is MASSIVE: something like 2.7 gigabytes.

2. We don't know how well Apple's server farm northwest of Charlotte, NC at Maiden, NC will work. Given all the power outages and damage from Florence recently in North Carolina, Apple may not have enough data capacity going out of that server farm to roll out iOS 12.0.

3. The revelation of that unusual HTML bug that could shut down an iPhone over the weekend could end up delaying iOS 12.0 release. Apple may incorporate a bug fix into WebKit and/or Safari to correct this issue first, which may delay iOS 12.0 release until Wednesday. We may end up downloading iOS 12.0.1 instead, and iPhone XS/XS Max users who get their phones this coming Friday will be prompted to update to iOS 12.0.1, probably a small download.

Another question. If Apple releases iOS 12.0.1 one day and I‘m gonna order the XS Max later this year, can I use my backup or are the XS Max‘s with iOS 12.0 and I have to update first?

For the first time I will not be able to get the new iOS when it comes out . Going out for dinner at 7pm and back home too late to start an update as I have to get up tomorrow morning at 5 am to catch a train .
