will it be minute after midnight eastern time or noon? I would like to know when, so I can be assured that I will get one. If the pre-order quanty is limited to 10 percent of supply and rest for launch date, then it may sell out quickly. I don't want to wait in line. So, if a million is available, then 10 percent is 100, 000 units. That may sellout if 2000 people order it from each state. Plus, I want the 64 gig model. How many of that unit is available for pre-order.

Apple did not mention what time in their Press Release, but you also have to consider that April 3rd is a Saturday and last I checked, UPS and FedEx don't deliver on weekends. When the iPhone 3G S was released, those people that pre-ordered had their phone shipped directly from china to your house, but I don't recall pre-orders being First-Come-First-Serve basis.

you can read the full press release that includes all the details that every gadget site received this morning over at www.apple.com/pr

FedEx Home delivers on Saturdays (they do Tues-Sat).

I asked the same question earlier. I just want to make sure they don't sell out. You never really know how many people will buy and how many they have. I do have to say I like how they are handling this though. No waiting in line or camping out hoping they dont sell out before you get to the counter. No waiting on the UPS or FedEx truck to come. Just pay on a standard payday friday and pick up on a Saturday when alot of people dont have to work. Well thought out.

here is a quote from Apple's Press Release

" iPad will be sold in the US through the Apple Store® (www.apple.com), Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers."

currently apple sells the iPhone though AT&T, Best Buy, Walmart, Radio Shack (the Shack).

so if Apple lets those same Authorize re-sellers to sell the iPad, plus is also allowing online purchase for home delivery, one way or another, we should all be able to buy an iPad at launch. I couldn't make it to the launch of the iPhone 3GS, but I was able to walk in the next day and buy a phone, only problem was that my local Apple store had sold out of 16g White, so i bought 16g Black.
