Hey Guys,

i'll get my iMac in some days. Now i heard about some heat, screen and hdd problems...

So how can i see, hear or feel if my iMac has one of those?

Could someone pls give me a little guide what to check on it....

Its my first mac and it wasn't really cheap, so I want a perfekt one and hobe you can gibe me some advise.

Thanke you!

Check for dead pixels. Just google dead pixel test.
People with Seagate HDD are complaining of the drive being loud. I can't vouch for that one. Some drives are louder than others when the read/write heads are active. I have a Western Digital in my machine and it's quiet, not silent, I can hear it once in a while.

Bring up the isight camera, make sure its exposing properly. I have seen some that were overexposing.

Set your desktop background to white and see how white it looks to you. Check how hot the system gets at the top. It will get hot sometimes but some guys are talking about frying eggs on theirs but I have not experienced that.

Make sure there are no cracks or scratches in the screen.

How hot can it get? What is normal?

How many of the screens have this yellow dots?

How do I see the brand oft the hdd?

thx

With the overheating problem does it get hot while being idle or because it's being used? Mine does get quite hot

I have had mine for a month or so now and I can attest to these problems. The top gets so hot I can't even touch it, the camera is overexposing unless I turn down the screen brightness, and the harddrive sounds like something that would be running Windows 98 when it boots up. I just thought this was normal.
