I am quite content sitting on the 6.1.2 firmware with my iPhone 5 right now. But, I do have to admit, with all this iOS7 jailbreak talk at the moment I am wondering if it might be time to upgrade.

Anyone else in the same boat as me?

If you can live without a few cydia tweaks for awhile until devs can update them to be more compatible with ios 7 and cydia pushes MS, I suggest doing it sooner than later as the door of opportunity will be closing once apple is no longer is signing 7.0.4
This is if you see any features within ios 7 you want

I was on 6.1.2 on my iPad 3 until this week. I wanted to upgrade to 7.0.4 while I still could and didn't want to be stuck on 6.1.2 if/when Apple releases a patch. I jailbroke right away too even though not many of my tweaks work yet.

Ios 7 on ipad 3 is horrible and slow.

How about iphone 5 with 7.04 jb. Im on 6.14 now and that is about to come out. I hear battery is awful with 7 on iphone 5 and slower.

I'm in the same boat....options are

  1. stay on JB 6.1.2 and not have some of the cool features in iOS7...and risk losing the window of opportunity to JB
  2. upgrade to 7.04 and hold off jailbreaking until everything is updated
  3. upgrade to JB 7.04 and live without the tweaks until they are updated

tough call but I think I might go for option 2

7 with JB is the best choice by mile. If you don't want to JB then 7.1 B2 is way above 7.0.4. 7.1 B2 actually makes 7.0.4 look like something that should never have been released. 7.0.4 is just plain terrible.

What you have right now is ROOT into ios 7
I'd suggest to anyone that wants ios 7, do it sooner than later and leave it alone and use it as a stock jailbroken device until the other tools such as MS and dev apps catch up.
Keep in mind, Jailbroken = Root access, without it everything else is meaningless.
Backup, update to ios 7.0.4, restore backup and then jailbreak.
Sit back and use your idevice until the other tools arrive

Think the wife will notice much? I am not sure she really even needs a JB at this point. But more and things are requesting iOS7 to upgrade and/or install.

But I don't want it to slow down her browsing...she will start grabbing my MBAir more often!! Can't let that happen! ;-)

I'm on 7.0.4 with my iPad 3. I haven't noticed anything that is "horrible and slow." It works just fine for me with no noticeable slowdowns. I doubt your wife will notice anything except the new OS.

the UI on ios 7 is obviously much slower on the ipad 3. theres a reason why apple decided to disable a lot of the visual effects specificially for that generation of ipad. if you can't tell a difference than your tolerance just must be really high for bad performance.

I don't know what to tell you, man. Apps load right away, web pages load just as fast as they did on 6.1.2, nothing is crashing. It just works fine for me.

I'm approaching the end of my upgrade cycle so staying put on JB iOS 6.1.X on 4S. Currently, it's the most polished iOS and will be for a while.
