Hey guys I need an advice,
I can buy this used macbook pro Dual 1.83 standard config for 1400$can or wait and get a refurb macbook dual 2 (not pro) for about the same price...

I need this primarily for audio purposes so the graphics card isnt an issue. Cpu power is more inportant so should I get a current dual 2 or buy the already "obsolete" 1.83?
Also, the guy who's selling it doesnt have the install discs, remote and accessories... Just the laptop itself and power supply.
I know, sound a bit dodgy, but it is a great deal...
What to do, what to do?

Any advice?

Well. 170Mhz isn't a big deal. The MBP also has better graphics than the Macbook. I would buy the MBP personally. It is a much better computer overall, for the price you would be paying.

However, the manner in which it is being sold is a little questionable. I would be a little leary of it.

Well right now you can get that same MBP refurbished from Apple for $150 more and it will be like new with everything with it. I would highly suggest going that route over that deal that you have. Because it sounds like you're not going to be getting the install discs from the deal you're getting and you may get into some trouble later on if you have a hard drive crash or something similar.

I would also much rather have a MacBook Pro rather than a MacBook. :)

Yeah, thanks for the replies...
um, thats 1550$us so about 1750$can. Its quite a bit more with added tax.
I wonder if I can buy the remote separately.
As for the discs, I' not too worried about that. I have an external drive to back up too.
The main question is cpu... 170mgz might not be much but its x2!
Also, I'm very tempted to hold until WWDC to see whats in the works, BUT obviously the macbook pro wiil be sold by that time...arggg...
Anyway, I think I'll check it out tomorrow and run some tests.
I'll let you know...

FS: iBook 14", 1.33ghz, 1.25g ram, 60G: 875$...

Sorry, I just saw the price but didn't note that it was can not us. but the remote can be had here it says it's for the iPod but I read the reviews and they said it would also work for macbook pros. Other than the remote all you will be missing is the install discs and the DVI to VGA adapter.
