I've had 5 apple computers, ibook G4, blackbook, 15" macbook pro, whitebook, and my current unibody 15" macbook pro. I've loved every single one of them and except for my first pro, which fell to it's death, they are all still working in tip-top shape in the hands of family members.

At first, I wasn't too interested in the iPad due to the software limitations (I have a jailbroken 3GS), and decided that it all hung in 4.0. After reading impressions from people on here and seeing how everyone seems to love it. My thoughts are wavering.

HOWEVER - I've become unhappy with my macbook pro. It seems heavy, and a pain to move around. If im in bed or watching tv, browsing the web or working on hw seems awkward and straining. I don't wanna carry it around unless its in my brenthaven case which is bulky and doesnt fit in my backpack. I of course need a laptop and I love the 15" over the 13" due to speakers and screen size. I'm of course very glad I have this computer, I love it, but it doesn't feel...right... anymore.

I feel like times have changed and there is a new standard for how humanity functions. I feel like my "tool" set is from the wrong era. I was sure I would wait for the 2nd gen iPad, but now... I don't know.

So I don't understand how a 9.7 inch screen with (probably?) no better speakers is a better solution.

You should also think about how you use your computer: do you use it to produce content? Are you a heavy typist? If yes you may not be satisfied with the iPad.

Other than that, some people say that the iPad feels heavy after you hold it for more than 10 minutes so I'm not sure if it's a lot less awkward than a laptop.
