i've had warcraft 3 freeze on me a couple times, and the only way i've gotten out of it was to hard shutdown my powerbook (hold down the power button)

is there any other way i could be safer when getting out of this jam?

Holding down option + command (apple) + escape should bring up the Force Quit Applications window, then you can choose the appropriate application to quit, if the keyboard is still active.

Could you use Exposè to get to another app and then cmd+tab+q to warcraft to quit it? I know that neocell already gave you the best advice, but I was just wondering if that would work as well.
