What to do with a spare Air 2?

I’ve upgraded my Air 2 to an 11”, and I’m not planning on selling the Air 2, as I figured I wouldn’t get much for it, and it doesn’t hurt to have a spare around for if and when my seven-year-old damages her iPad irreparably (she’s had iPads since she was 4 and was always great with them until the last six months).

In the meantime— what would you do with a spare iPad lying around the house? It seems like a shame to keep it on the shelf.

If I were to be in your situation, I would sell it. The Air 2 is still a great device.

I set up mine as a trade in when I purchased my 11”, but I’m not sure I want to send it off for $120. I’m rather fond of it. But I don’t know that I’ll use it all that often. Maybe I’ll keep it in the kitchen for recipes? I don’t know. I should probably just trade it in like I’d planned.

I'd keep it as a spare just in case another devices breaks.

You could also put it in your kitchen to more easily update shopping lists, view recipes, watch shows while cooking or cleaning.

We did what Dave-Z suggested, our spare iPad is now a kitchen iPad with just Parika (recipe keeper), Anylist (our grocery list), and Calendars 5 as third party apps on it.

• Only 1 iPad will get flour on it now
• Allows for facetiming and still using the kitchen pad
• Can act as a kitchen music player
• Guests can use it if they need to and don't have their devices with them

I would sell it. Even though you get minimal value, it is better than the zero productivity you get out of it. It is an older unit only getting older, soon no one will want it like an old TV.

Don't know what storage you have on your iPad Air 2, but they're going for $150-$250 on eBay. I would sell it in a NY Minute. I'm thinking of getting a new Pro myself and will sell my straight Air. Looks like I might get up to $150 for it.

Can you really get that much for an Air 2? I have one that I use as backup; every now and then I'll forget my primary iPad at my office, and this way I still have an iPad at home on those occasions. However, I've upgraded since then and now have an iPad Air 2 and an iPad fifth generation as backup. I checked the fifth gen; I can't get much of anything for it. I suppose I assumed the same was the case with the Air 2.

I like this idea too. One specifically for the kitchen is a nice to have.

For what it's worth, I just sold my 64gb Space Grey Cellular on Ebay for $250. Not exactly chump change. Way better than a trade in.

Interesting— I just assumed with people saying how much values had dropped on the 10.5 that the Air 2 would not even be worth selling.

Use it as a weather station on a cookbook stand when you're not using it for recipes. I can show the weather radar. If you have an outdoor camera you could stream the video for security. It can be connected with various apps to your MAC if you have one to use as an additional monitor for an application that fits well there and the touch screen works too. Trade in is a fine idea, or sell it, or just keep it because why not. It will still be valid as an iPad for several more years, they did well with the Air 2 in performance. I kept mine after getting a pro.
