My dad and I switched over to the iphone 3gs back in late june and the phone in the title has since then been restored.

Im the one in charge of selling it. I have a couple of questions to address.

1) Should I jailbreak it/unlock it before I sell it?
2) Can I keep the factory settings but still be able to update it to 3.13?By that I mean will the buyer open the phone and 3.13 will already be on there? Or will it be fully restored to the point where it's no different than buying it back in July 07?
3)What places have you found best to sell your old iphone? Ebay, etc?
4) What would be the average price difference if i were to sell it locked vs unlocked?

I thought the 2g iPhone only came in 4GB and 8GB sizes, or am I wrong? Or maybe the OP means second generation phone, in which case that would be the 3g? It's all very confusing...

its a first model 16 gb. Not 3g

well, I hooked up the phone to my computer and it gives me these two options:

Set up as a new iphone

or restore from backup

I know Im not gonna do the second option, but what does the first option exactly do?

EDIT: I think Ive got it. I just had to click "check for updates" and it'll update the phone w/o syncing. Downloading and installing 3.1.3 now

It's a 2G iPhone. It doesn't really matter.

that's what I was finding out.

I ended up using pwnage tool.

This is a phone Im selling, Im on the part where it asks "Do you have an Iphone contract that would activate normally through iTunes?" I would presume not since this phone is deactivated

no installer icon on the phone...doesn't look like it worked(pwnage tool)

edit..WOW, I am stupid lol. I used the original firmware, not the updated one lol

looks like I got it jailbroken, unlocked and everything?

Is there a way to make sure it's unlocked before I sell it? Via cydia or something?

Only takes a minute. Borrow a friends sim just to check it.

sounds good, will do. It shouldn't do anything to his sim card, correct?

I remember the install going by perfectly and bootneuter was part of pwnagetool, so it all should be there. Is there a way to check on the phone to see if its on there before I use my friend's sim?
