Yeah, that's about the best solution. That's what I did after my iBook went up in smoke. Threw it down the garbage chute 2 weeks before Apple had the massive logic board recall. The hard drive is still kicking though.

Cheap ($20 or so) and, really, quite useful. Also, you never know when you'll need a notebook hard drive.
