When I first turn on my iPad, what should be the first thing to do in terms of battery life? Should I let it die all the way and then charge it up to 100%? I'm not sure what to do and want to make sure my battery is not screwed up because I didn't charge it for 7 hours or whatever.

Charge it up and try to never let it completely die except once every 2 to 3 months. This is only to reset the charging monitor. Never miss a chance to charge it no mater how little you have used the battery.
