What can I do with the factory installed ram that I've taken out?
Ordered 8gb memory but bought 4 sticks totaling 64gb.

So now what do I do with the 8gb ram I took out?

I tried searching for this topic to no avail.

Is the iMac still under warranty? If so maybe keep the original ram, in case it needs warranty work at a later date. Wouldn’t be surprised if Apple refused warranty work because you upgraded the ram lol.

If the warranty has finished I’d sell it.

I suggest that you keep RAM that you know works - just in case you need to troubleshoot a possible memory issue at some point.

Yep.

RAM issues are rare but once diagnosed, you want to keep your machine running while you ship the other sticks back for exchange under the lifetime warranty, right? Of course you do.
