My 24" iMac is due to arrive tomorrow. I am slightly worried that there may some some dead pixels etc.. and want to know if I can simply bring it to my local Apple dealer to replace OR do I have to send it back to Apple using UPS? I bought directly from apple.com and have been waiting 2 weeks for it to come from China. I couldnt deal with another 2 week wait for a replacement!!

Will a local Apple dealer accept a faulty unit and replace it even if that delaer did not sell it to me in the first place?

Thankfully, my 24" screen has no dead or stuck pixel. Don't worry for it yet, just wait and see, but if there is something YOU don't like, return it. Never settle for less, and don't talk yourself into "getting used" to it. :)

I am in the same situation exactly (but located in Australia). Fingers crossed I dont get any dead pixels, yellowing or any other defect. If I do get such a machine I am also not too clear what to do.

I've heard of a few people with dead pixels, but it's obviously the people who have them that mention them on this board. I have one in my old laptop and I'm awaiting a new 24 inch iMac. How common are they, is it really unlucky if you get them, or are they quite a common problem? what's the ratio? For every 100 machines, one would have a dead pixel(s)? Any one got any stats?
