I have a G5 tower with the standard 250 gig hard drive install I also have a external 250 hard drive connected by firewire 800 for video editing. I have a 160 gig serial hard drive doing nothing but sitting in a box. Should I install it in my mac and store all my imac backups on it? Is this a good idea or should just get another external backup?

If you're comfortable with the install (it's quite simple) it'd be more useful inside your computer than disconnected.

Otherwise you can buy a firewire enclosure for it and install it in that.

yeah that option's good as it means you can use it to backup both computers and it would only cost you $30 or so.

As said though, putting it in the G5 is pretty straightforward.
