I need some advice on what to do about my MacBook Air. I an still getting extremely long charge times for the battery after updating to 10.5.2 and doing battery calibration and the various other fixes. Mine arrived last Monday so its getting near my two weeks to return it.

Should I be concerned about this long battery recharging time or should I just wait it out and see if a fix comes down the line?

Other than this one issue the machine is perfect, no dead pixels, fans run fine.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd definitely wait it out. Although your two weeks to return are coming up you still have the warranty on the hardware for a year so if nothing comes from Apple and you still have the problem or it gets worse you can take it to an Apple store to get fixed/replaced. Just make sure you doing backups so that if it happens you won't have too much of a headache reloading all your files/apps/etc.

Thanks. This is so frustrating. I ran it down to about 65% battery. I plugged in the charger and it said 45 mins to full which is fine. It stayed that way for about 10 minutes and then I looked up and it had changed to 2 hours 17 mins????

I'm waiting it out too.

I expect an SMC firmware fix much like they have released on all machines at some point to sort out teething troubles.

There is enough discussion of the issue here, and on the Apple Discussion boards for them to be very aware of the issue. Not to mention those that have already returned their MBA's because of it.

If nothing materializes in a few weeks - I will consider returning mine, but only when I am sure all new models don't suffer - otherwise what's the point ?

OK Guys. Thank you. I will keep it. Its perfect otherwise. Hate to give it up and get something worse maybe

LOL!! Yeah I have a perfect one other than the battery too. No fan noise, no disk noise at all, and runs cool all the time :)

I'd be just; if not more peeved if I returned it and it came back with the battery fix, but runs hotter or has a noisy hdd.

Fix one thing and break another? Lets hope that's not the case if they bring an update for the battery problems.

Yes, I know and with my luck that is exactly what would happen. I was also going to sell my MacBook pro and go just to this one but with this problem I held back. I was looking for an excuse not to sell it anyways:)

How is SlimBattery Monitor? And what are the other icons on your Menu bar? I see the new Time Machine but the Temp and Fan Speed? I downloaded the iStat Widget and have been using that to look at most of those stats. Are the Apps you're running any better?

That's Fabulous! (as the site says)

Unfortunately, my Olympus uses wonderful XD memory cards. If I had a camera that took SD I would definitely look into this, although I like to organize my files on my computer pretty meticulously so downloading via cable/reader is definitely for me.

I'll have to check out Slim Battery when get home and back to my Mac.

The good side of the grass.
I'm in same boat w. my Air. The battery life is pretty good at 3:45 to 4:30. The only thing is I too keep obsessing over battery health. I think I'll hold on to mine because otherwise it's perfect.

Yeah I know. I was thinking of calling Apple again. Mine has been all morning coming from 60% to full charge:mad:

Wait, it keeps flipping between 60% and fully charged? Instantaneously? Like, one minute it's at 60% and the next it's at 100%? If so, that would definitely be a major issue and you should call Apple again.

What is your battery health at?

Last I checked this morning mine was at 96% after 10 cycles (not sure if that's good or bad....)

I wouldn't wait. I already have two MacBooks that have the "blinking screen" -problem and Apple isn't prepared to fix either. Both are under warranty and I've been fighting with Apple to get them fixed for three months now.

I don't trust Apple one bit anymore.

I spoke for over an hour to the Mac Specialist in charge of this battery thing (so he says). He says the battery is a whole new technology. It will charge to 80% and then slow way down. Not sure what the reason for that is. He suggested running the battery down to sleep and shutting off with power switch. Then plug it in while its off and leave it over night.

Nothing is ever easy:p
