Will we see faster iBooks with HD display in January 2006?

No. They were too recently updated. My guess is that the next iBook update will be in June, with the addition of Intel processors. Keep in mind the iBook is still the consumer laptop, not the proline, and would likely not have HD (if at all) until after the Powerbooks did.

I'm going to have to say DEFINITELY NOT.

First of all, no appreciable speed increases to the iBooks until they have Intel processors. Second of all, HD is far from prevalent enough to feature on a consumer laptop at this point in time.

I am sure of something tho, wait till its posted on macrumors webpage. I can actually answer your question with certainty: no one has one slight clue.
Just be patient!

I'm not certain, but I'd certainly be willing to bet several organs that iBooks will not be HD in that timeframe.

I agree too but lets not forget the original post, and lets not starts to argue on what wont be here soon, since I could say the following:

Powermac's with 5 trillion intel quantum cpus (what ever that is) are not expected before the end of the year.

Honestly I know I'm being the biggest smart ass but at the same time I am simply tired of all those trashy threads of what comings and whats not coming.
I almost believe we should have a new section just for that since it would filter a HUGE percentage of all threads and clense them from unecessary ones.

Ok, so let's forget the HD technology. What about an widescreen display for iBook in January? I think that would be possible. Don't you think the same?

I'm mad about an iBook 14" when I travel to the USA in December. Should I postpone my trip to January, to check if we will get updates on the line?

Attending Macworld

Would it be a good idea to attend MacWorld Expo in San Francisco in January if I want to learn more about the coming Intel Macs? Or should I save my money and read about it on the net? Until my Mac Mini purchase 6 months ago, I have been out of the Apple loop. My last MacWorld attendance was when the Apple LC was popular! heh

I am trying to decide if I should wait for the intel Ibook or buy the G4 Ibook now. I can wait if people seem to think that it will be worth it. Thanks! :)

I think that it would be worth your time and effort to attend MWSF January 2006. A great time to network with other Mac users. I'm sure that there will be classes offered that will provide information about the upcoming switch to Intel.

If you need a iBook now I would go ahead and purchase. Won't be released until June 2006 at the earliest. Would also recommend waiting for the Rev B model. Will just allow for bug and compatibility issues to be worked out.

My money is on the PowerBook going Intel, as the next update won't be all to major, and it's still a way behind the PowerMacs, or even the iMacs

iLife 06 with Photobooth and Front Row. 2 packages available, just the app and another with included remote. IR reciever that can plug into the keyboard USB ports. That's what I'm hoping for anyways. :D

I originally thought that would be the case but I don't think that anymore. My guess is sometime between January and June. Although with the recent rumors of Apple getting new engineers for the Intel chips maybe we could see them in MWSF.

new Cinema displays.

Maybe a smaller 17" Cinema display priced at ~$499. I think that would work well for the Mac mini.

And as far as Powerbooks going Intel at MWSF, while I guess that would be nice, I don't see that happening. 1) Isn't MWSF aimed consumers? Powerbook=Pro. 2) If we get this last update on the current Powerbooks next week (or soon after), I thinks that's too soon....course I could be wrong.

By the time January comes round we'll be looking forward to iTunes 8, a replacement for the Nano and a 7th generation iPod Video (probably with a remote to control the embedded iPhone). Oh yes, and a new bit of hardware called iSmell.
And one more thing ..... iMtired.
