What to expect & what should i get w/for Tiger?

hey-
i've got a 12" PB 1.33GHz G4, 1.25 RAM
& when i'm home i plug it into the 23" cinema w/ bluetooth mouse/keyboard

anyhow- i've splurged & finally bought TIGER
it will arrive sometime this week

questions:
what should i expect this to do to my machine?
like- i know i'll need to learn about dashboard, spotlight, & automater...etc
but- what else should i expect?

what programs or 'helpers' should i look for or read about working w/ the new OS

etc-
just any pointers or advice would be great as well
i've got time this week before it arrives to read up on the new OS, figure things out...tinker...etc

& all - i'm quite excited

install you must, before installing tiger .....for the speeeed

Since you have a recent machine w/sufficient ram, and assumming you have Panther now, running well on a healthy HDD, then Tiger will run faster and more stable than panther.

However, the first reboot after installation will be sloooowwww, as will the first 30 minutes or so while Spotlight is indexing you HDD (it takes lots of cpu & OS power). After that you're good to go OS wise, but.....

downloading & saving the Tiger-compatible updates for all your software is good idea too

Erase and Install is usually what I do when I get a new OS. It takes a bit of time to back up my important files, but with an external harddrive it's not so bad. Gives you a fresh, nice, new, computer to work with. mmmm.
