We are working on an iphone motion comic.

I am trying to figure out what we need to use to do the actual animation, and or play rewind select buttons.

But I am mostly concerned with the animation process itself.

I know flash cs3, but have not tried much else. And I am not sure what will work for the iphone os.

What should I be using to animate comic images me and my partner will be illustrating?

it will be a 2d animatic so unless it would be cheaper, or easier, no big need for 3d. Especially since thats not the art style.
sound would be nice as well.

Thanks

There is no way to use current flash on the iPhone.

What are apps like games and stuff currently using, or for that matter those with video.

any suggestions to point me in the right direction would be appreciated

thanks

Games will be using hand-coded OpenGL renders or middle-ware that takes some of the pain out. Video can be played as long as it's a format the iPhone OS understands. Basically H.264...

Look into Core Animation.

Thanks, now I don't know whether or not to laugh or cry, lol

thats the first I have heard of it.

I knew there was something, I just didn't turn up much when I searched it.

I really wish the macbook pro announcement were here sooner than later.

I would just get a refurbished 13 mbp and be done with it, if I weren't concerned I would be all ready to punch it, if they just happened to put an arrandale in one, I know its not likely but I just hate to take the plunge so close to an announcement, Hopefully my piece of junk compaq will make it until then.

you may be interested in the upcoming Flash CS5 and adobe's new iPhone Packager, which promises to convert AS3 to run as a native app.

I am,
I just basically would like to get it out asap, and am not sure which would be faster, waiting on cs5, or learning the alternatives.

Iam also a little concerned with apple on whether or not they will throw a monkey wrench into it , like they did with palm pre, I know they aren't the same thing, but I haven't seen anything stating that apple has approved or even blessed adobe with being able to do this through flash rather than what apple has offered.

I may be concerned for nothing, but I don't want to hang my hopes on flash only to have apple bring the hammer down and ban flash built aps either.
