PAGE Layout (this is a new thing for my new company designing leaflets and Info packs..)

any feed back on what to look at and buy will deffently be well looked into...

Thanks in advance Sabenth

for web design dreamweaver is very nice. there is also adobe golive. i use golive and i like it very much. its easy to get around if you know other adobe programs. ask some other people here who have used both and they will give you a better answer. as for designing i would go with adobe indesign. i like it much better quark and plus quark hasnt made a os x vesion yet. hope that is some help to you. if its making music there is so much to choose from. i would say protools, logic, or live. but im sound expert, ask a sound expert whatcha need.

Yes, InDesign is the application you want for Page Layout. I switched to InDesign from Quark Express because I was tired of waiting for an OS X version. That was the best decision. Thanks for being so slow, QE. Because of you sluggishness, I found a better app.

for audio digital performer is great, though it isn't out for os x just yet...should be by april 1st at the very latest though. lots of people like logic, i just don't like the intereface. pro tools is really really expensive..but the best probably. bias products like deck and peak are a lot cheaper, they work good for just audio, i don't think they sequence though, the others do that.

The best for what? Multitrack editing, granular resynthesis, spectral analysis?

You gotta be a little more specific than that.

audio: what do you want to do exactly? anyways protools 6 is out now for OS X, check it out.

Web: Dreamweaver is a great program, but there also GoLive and Freeway to check out.

Page Layout: Indesign is definitely your best bet here right now, or you can wait Ouark to come out with an OS X version.

if you already have adobe illustrator you
might want to just use that for simple page
layout, instead of investing in an all out
page layout program. you'll also find it
useful in your web design.

if i was only doing the occassional leaflet
i wouldnt waist my money on a page
layout package.

ProTools 6 is excellent, and is avaliable for their M-box interface, a USB box with very nice mic amps (Focusrite designs I think), it's only about £350 GBP, and is the cheap way into pro level recording software. HD ProTools is hideously expensive...

Otherwise eMagic are now Apple owned, and have a deal on their EMT 2/6 interface, which allows 5.1 surround mixing straight out of my PowerBook:D They have a "Big Box" range that starts at £199 GBP

Cubase isn't really considered at the same level in the UK industry but is very popular in "project studios".

Digital Performer is as good as Logic, and so it comes down to personal preferences.

All these apps can be expanded with plug-ins to work with the various synthesis systems, and will all interface with the various stand alone packages like Reason.

Good luck with your choices.

Well I run my own lighting company yes sounds dull dosnt it but its a living I bascly sell advanced lighting systems to China and crystal stores and anyone else who thinks that our lights can help them out with there lighting problems. I am in charge of making our Advertsing Matrial I currently use A few programs mostly ive been using illustrator but ive had hold of a demo of in design and its a lot simpler and easyer to use than quark . I am also starting to make Demo cds with video of our products in action in stores .

Thats were the audio comes into it I am composing for 3 - 5 mins of video but iam also big into music making in genral I use cubase on the PC and reason 1 For my ear drum smashing music. Its somthing that keeps me quite if you can call it that.. Basicly I am really big into making all kinds of stuff when i am not working i like making websites and working with most forms of media

Graphics
Web
Audio
Video..

So everyting is starting to click into place with my lights and Creating Video Disk is proving very handy from a sales point of view...

So i gues the audio is mostly for my own use and a bit of work use.

So what should i look at pro tools is good but its a bit out of my league....
