I currently have a 2010 Mini hooked up to my TV Via HDMI and love it. I play HD content thru iTunes/Front Row to my 1080p TV and it works wonderfully.

I would like to get a TV Tuner and record shows from my Cable TV. The current cable TV setup we have is just basic cable with no HDTV or premium TV channels, no cable box... just the COAX Cable coming from the wall directly into the TV.

What product would I need to accomplish capturing and playing thru the mini? I was looking at some of the Elgato products but they all look like they are Antenna only.... and don't look like they support a direct COAX line in for capture...

Any recommendations would be helpful. Thanks.

I've used the EyeTV tuners since the firewire EyeTV500 and they work very well. Great software as well.

The EyeTV Hybrid does have s-video capture. And their EyeTV HD will capture HDTV via component video.

EyeTV Hybrid has worked very well for me. Frequent software updates and iPhone/touch app allows for streaming of live tv or recordings.

hdhomerun is great as in above statement. (dual ATSC tuner that can be located anywhere as it uses ethernet). I have mine in the garage distribution panel and the mini in my office. It uses tcpip / udp to receive the data.

Check ebay for the recently discontinued eyetv 250. it has built in tuner and encoder (to ease the burden on your mini). And it takes coax. Or get the hybrid, it just relies on your mac's processor to tune and encode

Will SONY PS3 Blueray play Movies with Mac bluetooth?

I am thinking about getting Sony PS3 for my daughter Christmas Present. I know PS3 has the blue tooth ability. I will plan to buy Mac Mini that will come with HDMI output to my movie projector. I want to know if Mac will able to use blue tooth and able to get movies from PS3 to play movies and possible to record to Mac for back up or make library with mandrake?

Has anyone done that?

Or should build HTPC?
