i know that we are on DP8 and PB3 now and just wanted to see what people think still needs to be done for UI changes before yosemite is released for the public?

I would like to see the active window stand out more against the inactive windows...that is my only gripe

That's the problem with a flat design. I'm still sceptical on how this will work on proper work machines like the iMac and MacBook Pro - doing real work for 6-8 hours, not fiddling with an iPad or whatever for 15-30 minutes.

I don't really think it's due to a flat design...they did it in previous releases...just make the window a tad darker than it currently is or make the inactive window lighter (because you probably can't make a window darker and still have tranparency)...or maybe more of a shadow on the active window.

If they (NASA) can put a man on the moon, Apple can get this done right

The current app goes up onto another version of itself in mission control. It's a very perplexing animation. The current app should move up into place, and nothing coming down under it. Even better would be if all the desktops floated to the top like multitasking in iOS, but that may be too much on the hardware.

This old icon is still there.

The heavier font in the green is annoying. I see that the white on green is harder to see, but how about just tone down the green a notch? The green is lighter and the font is thinner in iOS and they don't feel the need to change it there (probably should though). I just don't think make it bolder is the answer, it looks like a mistake.

I have been really pleased with the Yosemite UI in general, though I wish the awesome Time Machine star effect would make a return. (Seriously, it's so cool that I used to go into Time Machine from time to time just to look at the effect.)

what UI changes are still needed before public release?

Definitely the Icons.

The idea with the 'flat look' isn't bad, but the Icons should be more elegant, filigree - currently it looks a little bit like painted by a child. Compare e.g. the analogue clock in the System Preferences or the Dashboard Icon between 10.6 Snow Leopard and 10.10 Yosemite PB3 ....
