My sister in law is going to sell me her 'unlocked' phone which she bought in Vietnam..problem is she said when she goes to update software or buy an app..it all messes up and gets buggy...what is the best thing to do for me if I want to fix this? I would like to still have access to the app store and sync with my Mac without problems..I need it unlocked because I'm going to a place where there are no carriers for iPhone....thoughts?
Thanks!

Is it 3G or 2G?

There is only one way to jailbreak and unlock for either.

Check out blog.iphone-dev.org for more information. If it's a 3G you need to install Yellowsn0w, which means you need to have the right firmware and baseband to support it. Read all of their posts to figure it out or post back with your phone model, firmware, and baseband. (Settings, General, About)
