What Upgrades to choose???

What is the difference between upgrading the processor or memory? If you had to choose only one which one would you choose and why

RAM. The CPU doesn't make a big difference but the RAM can and will in the future.

There are points of diminishing returns, but the performance increase from 2GB of RAM to 4GB will outweigh a CPU upgrade on the MBA in most use cases.

second. $100 more for the slightly faster processor just makes me sleep better at night even if i never would have noticed the difference.

RAM first priority CPU second priority

Like the other posts the RAM difference makes a huge improvement. In the recent past I had a Mac Mini and a MacBook that both shipped with 2 GB of RAM, the performance was OK until you opened a lot of applications or ran a Virtual Machine. After a few months I added a 2 GB upgrade and this made a huge difference. In the case of the Mac Book Air you can't upgrade the RAM yourself so what you buy is what you get (forever). If I could only select one upgrade I would choose the RAM but if possible I would wait a little while to see if you can save enough to go for the CPU upgrade too.

i would just upgrade the ram. $100 to go from a 1.4ghz to 1.6gz is kind of a waste, much more of a waste then $100 to go from 2gb ram to 4gb ram.
