not going to lie -- this factor is weighing in strongly against me getting any BTO options

Amazon with $4 Amazon Prime overnight shipping is where it's at! For the last few product updates, Amazon has had the new product the day it is announced/released.
waiting for it to ship once it comes out? why dont u go the store and buy it?
getting the barclay card when it comes out -- and since i wont have the physical card yet i'll do it online (where it is effectively instant).
I'm having trouble deciding if I'll wait the extra couple of weeks for the back to school promotion for the free iPod touch.
If you order from Amazon, you can't get the SSD option. Normally, I would put the SSD in myself, but Apple's last refresh of the iMac made it difficult (and voids warranty AFAIK) to replace the HDD with a SSD.

i think im going to wait for the back to school promotion myself to get that free ipod, when is it going to happen? end of may?
i also heard there will be a free printer promotion aswell for upto $100 and they usually have $100 printers so that will mean a free printer.

Yeah- most likely end of May. Only a couple weeks after the refresh. It has an added bonus of knowing the ins and outs of the refresh and if it's a good refresh or best to buy a refurb etc.
I'm also curious to see whether Apple makes swapping HHDs with SSDs any easier since the current iMac is difficult to do so (an may void your warranty AFAIK)

I think that my personal waiting time is going to be the worst out of everyone who has replied so far. I'm waiting at least until after Apple's WWDC keynote to see what the news is about Lion before placing my order. I want to pull the trigger once the back-to-school promotion starts at the end of May but since WWDC is just a couple of weeks after it starts, waiting a little longer will be nothing compared to the wait these past few months.
The worst wait by far is when the apple store goes down next week, and i sit there refreshing the page every minute until it comes back online, refusing to levee the computer.

I've been waiting a while now to purchase my first imac , would have had it a month or so back until i heard about the impending refresh so thought i'd hold out.
The time has given me a good opertunity to go through these forums for tips , hints and good old info so i'm a little more confident in the switch over from a long time pc user.
So i see some people mentioning a free ipod promotion? Is this speculation on whats happened on previous updates or something more concrete?
Also i'm in the UK , would this possibly just be a US promotion?
I also see this mentioned with back to school , is offer again limited to a certain section of the public?
As i've waited a while now i reckon i could wait another few weeks for a nice free gift if i qualify
