There are many concerns that AT&T might not be able to handle the 3G ipad. I was just reading that the reason they haven't supported tethering yet is because they can't handle the extra bandwidth. My question is, what if they can't handle the 3G ipad? What would happen? I thought up 2 scenarios:
1. AT&T jacks up the price to something like $30 and $45 a month, infuriates apple & it's users, as a result, next gen Apple products might be on Verizon, with a possible discontinuation of AT&T products, or little attention paid to them. AT&T falls behind competitors, having blown it's iPhone exclusivity and Apple's trust.
2. They work on trying to upgrade their network, knowing that this is their last chance to stay ahead or even in line with the industry, and try to keep Apple from switching to the much more capable Verizon network. Major chokes on 3g, but gets better long term
I think #2 seems more likely, but from what I've seen in the past, #1 is definetly possible too. What do you think?
And as for network chokes, from what you've noticed, are they worst in cities? I live in a suburban area with not a lot of Apple users. Think I'll be okay?
