I have uploaded over 150GB's of files into my iCloud Drive folder in OS X El Capitan. I love being able to access these 150GB files on my iPad or iPhone but am here about to sell my MacBook Pro, of which i'll erase the SSD before selling and I'm left wondering if my iCloud Drive files will eventually delete automatically as come November i'll most likely only have my iPhone and iPad with me and go w/o a laptop till maybe summer 2016.

Just wondering what would happen cause i've spent the past week uploading 150GB's to iCloud Drive and I wish to keep the files available.

Always be a good idea to keep a local backup of all your files.

And I would guess your file would not be deleted. I have reinstalled my Mac OS X many times in Yosemite era, and none of my files are removed from cloud.

Yeah those 150GB's files came from a backup HDD. Thank you for the speedy response.

Well, before selling it you should do a full wipe of the system and re-install the OS. You can do all of this completely offline, so any deletions will not replicate to iCloud.

Um, how can I do this offline if I believe I need an internet connection to reinstall OS X El Capitan? Obviously I'd erase the SSD with Disk Utility first and then install OS X El Cap.

doing it through internet recovery will mean you will not be signed in to icloud hence deleting the contents of the SSD and doing the reinstall there would solve your problem.

Exactly, you don't need to be signed in in order to do an Internet Recovery. Do a full wipe and re-install and leave it there when the installer finalizes.
