what will happen when i plug current mac mini to a 4k display

assuming i'll use a displayport, i know i can max the resolution to 2k, what will exactly happen in monitor? will images too blurry/crappy? will it fill the whole screen?

You can run 4K at 4K, no problem, even over HDMI.
Just add 3840x2160@23.976Hz with SwitchResX (Most 4K content is 24p content).

Or you can patch your driver and get 4k at 30Hz (I'm running my mini with a seiki 4k 39")
